Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a noninvasive and effective diagnostic tool used to observe and evaluate the structure and function of soft tissues. Sonograms give us real time views of soft tissue organs, such as the heart, stomach, spleen and kidney. These images are used in combination with the veterinarian's physical exam and other diagnostics to evaluate heart disease, to detect certain liver diseases and evaluate gastric motility, among many other things. We are able to complete routine pregnancy sonograms on our canine and feline patients. We can even use the ultrasound to aid in collecting urine samples on a routine basis. When a second opinion is required, we can send sonograms to specialist radiologists or internists for interpretation.
