This examination is intented to educate pet owners about the importance of oral health and routine dental prophylaxis. Why is this so important? Periodontal disease can have a significant effect on the cardiovascular system, as well as the kidney's and liver. A potential source of infection and inflammation, the mouth needs to be examined routinely to prevent periodontal disease and other serious health problems.
An oral/dental examination will provide each pet owner with an understanding of their pet's current oral health and any preventative treatments that may be required. This is also an excellent opportunity to prepare owners for dental procedures, such as prophylaxis or any surgical extractions which may be required.
Brushing techniques, dental diets, drinking water additives and preventative screening may be discussed at this examination.
